8 Holiday Decorating Ideas for Your RV

by | Dec 2, 2016 | RV Buyer's Guide, Tips & Tricks

It’s about that time to start decorating your camper for the holidays! Whether you’re entering into a decorating contest, or just want to bring some festive cheer to your campsite, check out these 8 great ways to decorate your RV!

Holiday Wreath

Your wreath may be one of the first things someone sees when they walk by your RV, so it should be spectacular. Some people opt to put a wreath on the front of their vehicle, which works great on motorhomes, while others prefer a traditional wreath on the door. The design of your wreath is totally up to you, and can range from all-natural to whimsical and eclectic. Get the whole family involved in the decoration process so you can have a wreath that’s personalized for your style.

Outdoor Lights

This holiday season is all about the lights, and decorating the outside of your camper will make the entire campsite feel merry and bright. Choose your own style for your light display by choosing your favorite colors and types of lights. White lights, colored lights, icicle lights, and flashing lights are all fun ways to make your RV shine. Feel free to decorate the back, front, sides, and even your chairs and satellite dish!

Kitchen Decor

The holidays are all about the food, so it’s only right that your kitchen be just as festive as the rest of your RV. Bring some Christmas cheer into your kitchen with fun little touches, such as a small tree, ribbons and bows on your cupboards, hanging Christmas cards, or turning your refrigerator into Frosty himself.

Deck the Dining Halls

Make your holiday meals extra special by adding a little extra love to your dining space.  Add a cute centerpiece or Christmas-themed dishes and a tablecloth to set the mood. If you really want to feel like you’re in the North Pole, try decorating your dining chairs with these adorable Santa’s hat chair covers (see below).

Stockings to Stuff

While some RVs have fireplaces, they don’t typically have the traditional mantle you’d find in a regular home. However, there are plenty of places to hang your stockings this Christmas. Whether you buy your stockings or craft your own, they should be on display for everyone to admire. Try hanging your stockings on your slide, underneath your TV, on a ladder, or even on the outside of your camper.

The Tree

Just because you’re on the road, doesn’t mean you can’t have an awesome Christmas tree to gather round and celebrate. Picking the right tree for your RV all depends on the size and space you have available. Real or artificial trees will work, as well as full-size, half trees or tabletop trees.

Personalize Your Ornaments

No tree is complete without ornaments. Depending on the “theme” you’ve chosen for your RV decorations, your ornaments can range from rustic, DIY designs, to sparkly and elegant. If you have children, make some memories by having everyone decorate their own personal ornament with glitter, paint, mini pom poms, etc. Form your own holiday traditions to pass along to your kids, and for generations.

Decorate…Yourselves

Nothing says Christmas morning like matching pajamas for the whole family. Matching pjs or onesies are not only comfy and adorable, but they’ll make for a great photo. ou can even get an outfit for your dog.

Before you start decorating your RV, make sure you know where you’re going to spend your holiday by finding the perfect campground. You may also want to stop by your local RV dealers for a final service check on your tires, water heaters, or anything that may be helpful for winter camping. If a new RV is on your spouse’s Christmas list, browse around for some end of the year clearance sales at nearby dealerships.
