Healthy Homemade Snacks for the Road

by | May 25, 2018 | RV Recipes

Staying healthy while on the road is no easy task, but we’re here to make it as easy as possible with some homemade snack ideas for you and your family. Sure, you can pack string cheese, pre-packaged trail mix or throw some nuts in your hiking bag, but it’s all about variety: no one wants the same snack over and over again. Having good, wholesome, on-the-go snacks is also about making sure they’re full of protein to keep you going until your next meal rolls around!

If you’re really in a pinch, chopping up some fruits and veggies might be your best bet. And if you’re like a lot of us, you tend to snack only because you’re bored on the road. Mindlessly snacking is bound to happen, but it’s always a good idea to swap out the chips for healthier options. Just be sure whatever you choose isn’t too messy. (Watermelon, peaches and plums would be a nightmare to clean!) Carrots, broccoli, snap peas, apples, bananas, and those little easy-to-peel oranges are some starters!

It can be difficult to come up with new and creative snack ideas that picky eaters will enjoy, but we hope this list of snacks helps anyone that loves life on the road!
