One thing that is a constant, is the threat of rodents. For some reason, they seem to gravitate to RVs and Campers, making rodent prevention an integral part of RV ownership. How Do Mice Get In?
Before discussing how to keep mice out of your RV, we should first understand how mice get in your RV. Mice tend to come in when your RV is in storage. If left sitting for a long period of time, mice and other rodents will gravitate towards it to find food that may be left behind and shelter.
Mice can get in the RV in a number of ways. The most common being through cracks around doors, badly sealed pull-outs, any gaps in the walls or plumbing, access panels, or even cracks where the walls meet. Truly, if there is even a small gap, they will try to find their way in.
Preventing Mice From Getting In
This is a case when you will want to be proactive. Stop the problem before it starts and keep the mice out of your RV for good!
Block Entry Points
This should be a no brainer, but block off anywhere the little rodents can possibly get into your RV. This means making sure all entryways are properly sealed, the walls are free of holes, and that your slides are in proper working order. Do your best to make sure the mice have no way in!
Pick It UP
When mice are getting into your RV, it is usually because they are looking for food. In order to prevent these little buggers from taking up residence in your home away from home, make sure you have all food picked up! If you plan on storing the RV for a period of time, remove all food from your cabinets and refrigerator. Always make sure everything is clean and garbage cans are empty as well. If there is no food, there will be no mice!
Rodent Deterrents
There are a plethora of products on the market today just to prevent rodents from entering your residence. It is well known that mice don’t like peppermint, so one trick is to place some peppermint oil soaked cotton balls around your RV to keep them away.

Mouse Traps
The most efficient way to get rid of mice, is mouse traps. Set them out around your RV and let them do their job. If you aren’t feeling like actually killing the vermin, they do make non-kill mouse traps now, which would be an excellent option.

If absolutely nothing else is working, then it may be time to seek out some professional help.
