Welcome back, RVers. Well, it’s time for what a lot of us have been waiting for. FALL! You know what that means. Picking pumpkins, sweaters and scarves and pumpkin spice flavored everything. And no matter where you are in the United States, there’s a festival strictly dedicated to celebrating the season. Keep reading to learn about some of our favorite fall festivals across the U.S.!

Acadia National Park- Maine, USA

Though this isn’t a fall festival, it does deserve an honorable mention. Sometimes all it takes is just a view of turning leaves to really feel like it’s fall outside. And if there’s one thing that describes the beginning of fall, it’s an unbelievably beautiful foliage. Head to Acadia National Park in Maine to see it for yourself. Along with the scenery, the park offers clean trails, forests and an incredibly rocky coastline. Each year, over 3.3 million visitors enjoy views from over 1,000 feet, 158 miles of scenic hiking trails and 45 miles of carriage road with 16 amazingly beautiful stone bridges. Surprisingly enough, fall is one of the best times to visit the park because of the view, but also because the crowds are light. The weather during the month of September is delightful, but it starts to drop by October. By then, most tourists are back home and the town starts preparing for winter.

Cullman Oktoberfest- Cullman, Alabama

Grab your beer stein and drink up! The whole city of Cullman, Alabama was found by a German immigrant named Johann Cullmann. The residents of the city are very proud of their heritage, and what better way to celebrate than by throwing one of the most anticipated events of the year in the area? The first official Cullman Oktoberfest was in 1982 and is a non-profit organization whose goal is provide a family friendly event for everyone in Cullman and the surrounding cities.

So every first week of October, people of all ages come out for Oktoberfest activities like a wiener dog race, the arts and crafts show, wagon rides, a Biergarten, a classic car show featuring German cars and tons of contests. The list goes on!

This year, Cullman Oktoberfest is October 3-6, 2018. Plan ahead and don’t miss out on soaking up the German culture and heritage!

Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival- Miami, Florida

Head down to Miami to the Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival, a two day event that will leave you wanting nothing more than to carve a pumpkin while chowing down on a caramel apple. And there’s so many attractions during the event you’ll never experience a dull moment!

Check out the Carnival rides for every age, from bumper cars to kiddie roller coasters. Then meander your way through the Cornstalk Maze and hope you find your way out. Feeling hungry? Head over to the Pumpkin Food Court to devour some delicious pumpkin flavored snacks along with your favorite fair foods. Grab a beer from the Beer Bar and you’re all set. And don’t forget to take photos at the Fall Photo Vignettes so you’ll have everlasting memories of the festival. To end your day, pick out the perfect pumpkin and head to the decorating tent where the event provides the supplies. All they ask you to bring is the creativity!

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta- Damariscotta, Maine

Though most fall festivals are about games and foods, this educational event is all about the pumpkin! The ten-day-long event started in 2007 after two pumpkinboats raced each other in order to educate the young and old about the specific agricultural science needed to grow Atlantic Giant Pumpkins. The festival draws attention to the mid-coast region because of its widely advertised events, like the Pumpkinboat Regatta. The race includes 400-700 pound hollowed-out pumpkins with motors attached and volunteer captains racing towards the finish line at the Damariscotta Harbor. There’s also the 180 foot Pumpkin Drop, which is pretty obvious, but what happens is they drop a massive pumpkin from 180 feet in the air and watch it crash onto a stack of junkyard cars. And, of course, the Giant Pumpkin Parade, which features the winner from the largest fruit in the state of Maine weigh-off. Who knew a whole event about pumpkins could be so packed with fun festivities?!

36th Annual Color Cruise and Island Festival- Grand Ledge, Michigan

Starting in 1980, this festival might take the prize for the best way to view the fall foliage so many of us wait for each year. The Color Cruise and Island Festival is three days long and is always the second full weekend in October. Check out the amazing fall colors by riverboat, canoe, horse & wagon, bicycle or plane.once you’ve seen all Mother Nature has to offer, enjoy the activities the event provides, like cider pressing, blacksmithing, fur traders, pioneer crafts and candle dipping. Then there’s food! Chili, freshly popped caramel corn, hot dogs and brats are all there to fill your belly up with warm, fall festival-worthy snacks. The events lasts from October 12-14 with different festivities each day, so go ahead and plan your visit now!
